Why Gram's Promise?

Gram’s Promise Charitable Foundation, Inc. was founded in late 2005 in memory of Elizabeth (Libby) Frist who died from lung cancer on August 8, 2005. As Libby battled her illness she talked about her desire to get well and share her experience with young people to discourage them from smoking. Sadly, she never got the chance.

Libby, a longtime White Marsh resident, had a heart of gold. She was a caring and loving person who, above all, cherished her family. As “Gram” she truly adored her three grandsons.

In the logo the three clear ribbons in her heart of gold symbolize Gram’s beloved boys, representing all children in Libby’s quest of defeating lung cancer.

Libby’s wish lives on through her foundation. With community support and charitable donations, Gram’s Promise will continue to encourage tobacco free lifestyles through community activities and “The Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Frist Memorial Scholarship”.
